Even the Atlas of the Best Vineyards of the Langhe, published by Slow Food in 1990, lists Montanello among the best crus of Castiglione Falletto.
The vineyards of Tenuta Montanello extend over 11 hectares in a single plot with south-southwest-west exposure at an altitude of 250-300 meters. Montanello is considered one of the best crus in the Barolo region, as attested by the Barolo map by Renato Ratti, who first mapped out the Barolo region and identified the most suitable areas.

The soil composition of the estate's plots is of sedimentary origin, formed during the last glaciation. Its composition is balanced between silt and sand, with a small percentage of clay: it is therefore a clay loam soil with a good limestone content. These soils are well-drained and have excellent characteristics, especially active limestone, which allows for the production of wines with a full-bodied yet pleasant structure—very important for aging wines like Barolo—with the discreet flavor that characterizes wines without aging.
Furthermore, the climatic conditions, with varying exposure from south to northwest, allow for proper and balanced sugar and, above all, phenolic maturation, giving the wines great body and aroma.
